| A connection through Blythe Valley Park is included in the Solihull cycle route network.
Within the Park, there are shared use pedestrian and cycle routes alongside the carriageway of Blythe Gate and the exit road. The bridleway between Kineton Lane and the Virgin Gym offers an alternative route into the Park from Kineton Lane.
There is a segregated off-road cycle track alongside Widney Lane and Monkspath Hall Road, which enables cyclists to reach the A34.
Controlled crossings of the A34 have been provided at the entrance and exit from Blythe Valley Park to facilitate cycling and walking to work.
There is a good network of relatively quiet rural roads to the west and south of Blythe Valley Park, and these can be used to access rail stations for longer journeys, and to bypass some of the busier main roads for short journeys.
Bicycles on Trains
It is also feasable to combine the transport of both train and cycle to get there too. Dorridge and The Lakes stations are both within easy cycling distance of the Park.
Each train operator has a different policy regarding carrying bicycles. Click here to view the policy of each operator.
Cycle Parking
Because it can be difficult to transport bicycles by train during peak hours, commuters using bicycles for the trip between Blythe Valley and nearby stations may wish to leave bicycles parked at the station overnight. Cycle parking facilities are available at the following stations:

Walking
The Park offers an excellent location for recreational walking. A total of 2 miles of new footpaths and cyclepaths, with lengths of boardwalk and bridges, provide easy access into the Countryside Park. It takes between aproximately 45 minutes and an hour to make the full walk around the Park but shorter walks are possible by taking some of the alternative paths within the Park. The paths connect into the existing Solihull Borough right-of-way network, and include a 1200 meter-long stretch of new Blythe Valley Walkway. This walkway runs from the Park entrance, past the Park Centre and onto footpaths beyond.
Whether you are out for a quiet leasurely stroll at lunchtime or a brisk walk as part of your exercise regime, attractive, quiet areas of natural beauty with ponds, reedbeds, trees and wildlife, can all be enjoyed. Designated areas are set aside with seating for you to enjoy your sandwich or maybe just sit and read your book.
